JetBrains Youth Challenge

1. Introduction. These Terms and Conditions (referred to as the "Terms") form an agreement by and between an individual natural person (or legal representative), you (the "Participant", "you") and JetBrains s.r.o., a private limited company incorporated and existing under the laws of Czech Republic, with its registered office at Na Hřebenech II 1718/8, 140 00 Prague, Czech Republic, Company ID No.: 265 02 275, registered in the Commercial Register kept by the Municipality Court in Prague, Section C, File 86211 ("JetBrains"), under which you may participate in online competition “JetBrains Youth Challenge”. You must be 13-18 years of age in order to participate in JetBrains Youth Challenge.

JetBrains Youth Challenge is a contest (Programming Track and Mathematics Track) designed for inquisitive and determined students passionate about programming and mathematics.

Mathematics Track (Math Team)

17th November 2024, 10:00 CET

Team participation (1-3 members)

Two age brackets: Junior (13-16) & Senior (17-18)

Two rounds: Automated problem on Cogniterra platform (https://cogniterra.org) checking and solving problems without automatic verification, followed by the presentation of solutions to a jury committee consisting of experienced mathematics instructors.

Programming Track (Coder)

24th November 2024, 10:00 CET

Individual participation

A three-hour contest on Codeforces platform (https://codeforces.com/) of 10 algorithmic challenges

Two age brackets: Junior (13-16) & Senior (17-18)

During the active days of the competition, all communication with participants will be conducted via the Discord platform.The use of the Discord platform is governed by their own terms.

The aims of the JetBrains Youth Challenge are:

To provide participants with experience in solving mathematical and programming problems and to compete.

To promote mathematics and programming in general.

2) Terms. Your participation in JetBrains Youth Challenge is governed by these Terms. You accept and agree to these Terms by registration to the JetBrains Youth Challenge.

3) Email contact. In order to participate in JetBrains Youth Challenge, you must provide us with your name, surname, an email address that you regularly check and to which we can send important information about the JetBrains Youth Challenge. In these Terms, we will refer to this email address as your "Contact Email".

4) By participating in the JetBrains Youth Challenge, you acknowledge that we may collect information and gather feedback from you regarding JetBrains Youth Challenge.

5) Rewards. The top-10 participants and teams in each age group for every track will receive electronic certificates. Determination of Winners:

For Programming Track: Winners will be automatically determined based on the total points earned from solved tasks.

For MathematicsTrack: Winners will be determined based on the sum of points from automated tasks and an oral defense of tasks in front of a committee. The composition of this committee is to be decided by the organizers of the competition.

6) Personal Data. The Participant acknowledges that JetBrains may need to collect and further process the following personal data from You in order for the Participant to take part in JetBrains Youth Challenge. Contact details: first name, surname, email address. If the Participant is eligible for a Reward, JetBrains may need Your real name, email.. Your personal data will only be processed for the purposes of carrying out the JetBrains Youth Challenge, and if the Participant is entitled to a Reward, to deliver the Reward to the Participant. We will only send you educational newsletters with your explicit consent. The participant agrees to the publication of their name and surname in the tournament table.

7) Privacy Notice. The personal data You provide to JetBrains will be processed in accordance with the JetBrains Privacy Notice. By accepting these Terms, you agree to the JetBrains Privacy Notice, which is part of these Terms.

8) Data Access. The Participant understands that JetBrains may process the Participant’s personal data, or any feedback that the Participant has provided to JetBrains, in cooperation with the associated companies of JetBrains inside or even outside of the EU solely for the purposes of carrying out the JetBrains Youth Challenge, including delivery of a Reward (if any). For the purposes of these Terms, associated companies are companies controlled by, controlling, or under common control with JetBrains. JetBrains and its associated companies act as joint data controllers, who are jointly responsible for compliance with applicable data protection legislation. JetBrains is primarily responsible for exercising the rights of data subjects and providing information about data processing.

9) Export Control. JetBrains will immediately reject or exclude any participants ordinarily incident (such as located or residing) in the territories subject to export control or sanctions restrictions. The territories subject to export control or sanctions restrictions include North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Syria, Russian Federation, Belarus, Crimea region of Ukraine, territories of the so-called entities of Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republic or other annexed territories of Ukraine - such as Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Participants are required to cooperate with JetBrains in their efforts to ensure compliance with Export Control laws.

10) Changes. JetBrains reserves the right to change these Terms, including the terms for any Reward, at any time without notice. The effective version of the Terms will be published on the JetBrains website here or in the description of JetBrains Youth Challenge. You understand that the date, duration, scope or any other aspect of the JetBrains Youth Challenge is subject to change. You understand that JetBrains may cancel JetBrains Youth Challenge or your participation in JetBrains Youth Challenge for any reason.

11) Participation. JetBrains reserves the right to exclude any Participant from JetBrains Youth Challenge at any time for any reason and terminate these Terms with immediate effect upon delivery of an email to such Participant.

12) Governing law. The Terms and the relationship between You and JetBrains in connection with Your participation in JetBrains Youth Challenge are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. All disputes arising from the Terms or in connection with JetBrains Youth Challenge will be resolved by the applicable courts of Prague, the Czech Republic.

13) Independent Relationship. The relationship between JetBrains and a Participant is independent in nature and the Participant shall not claim to be a partner, employee, agent, or joint venture partner of or with JetBrains, nor claim any benefits available to the personnel of JetBrains under / before any law or forum.
