Terms and Conditions for Participation in the JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania 2025

1. Introduction. These Terms and Conditions (referred to as the "Terms") form an agreement by and between an individual natural person (or legal representative), you (the "Participant", "you") and JetBrains s.r.o., a private limited company incorporated and existing under the laws of Czech Republic, with its registered office at Na Hřebenech II 1718/8, 140 00 Prague, Czech Republic, Company ID No.: 265 02 275, registered in the Commercial Register kept by the Municipality Court in Prague, Section C, File 86211 ("JetBrains"), under which you may participate in the competition “JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania”. You must be between 13 and 19 years of age in order to participate in the JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania.

JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania is a team contest designed for inquisitive and determined students passionate about programming.

Date: October 12, 2025

Participation: Team of two (2) members

Location: Bucharest and Iași

No preliminary rounds or qualifying contests, eligible Participants will compete in teams of two (2) and will take part in a single three-hour programming challenge designed to assess problem-solving abilities, coding proficiency, and teamwork skills.

During the active days of the competition, all communication with participants will be conducted via the Discord platform.The use of the Discord platform is governed by their own terms.

The aims of the JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania are:

• To provide participants with experience in solving programming problems within a competitive environment
• To promote and foster a greater passion for programming.

2. Terms. Your participation in JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania is governed by these Terms. You accept and agree to these Terms by registration to the JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania.

3. Contact Email. In order to participate in JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania, you must provide us with your name, surname, an email address that you regularly check and to which we can send important information about the JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania. In these Terms, we will refer to this email address as your "Contact Email".

4. Feedback. By participating in the JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania, you acknowledge that we may collect information and gather feedback from you regarding JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania.

5. Rewards. Commemorative gifts may be awarded to a limited number of participants following a comprehensive and reasonable evaluation process, based on criteria and rules established exclusively by JetBrains.

6. Code of Conduct. Any form of cheating, plagiarism, or dishonest conduct, including the unauthorised use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools, is strictly prohibited. This applies to all contests and on all associated platforms, unless the rules of a specific activity explicitly permit an exception. For team participation, all members are jointly responsible for their submission, and a violation by any single member may, at JetBrains’ sole discretion, be treated as a violation by the entire team. JetBrains reserves the right to investigate any suspected violations and to take appropriate actions at its sole discretion. Such actions may include disqualification from contests or activities, revocation of certificates or recognitions, temporary or permanent exclusion from JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania, and ineligibility for future JetBrains events or events supported by JetBrains.

7. Liability. JetBrains will take reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of participants during the JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, JetBrains shall not be liable for any loss, injury, or damage to participants or their belongings arising out of or in connection with participation in the event, except where such loss, injury, or damage results directly from JetBrains’ gross negligence or willful misconduct. Participants (or their legal guardians, if under 18) remain solely responsible for their own travel, accommodation, insurance, and personal belongings. JetBrains is not responsible for any acts or omissions of third parties, including but not limited to transportation providers, accommodation providers, or other participants.

8. Photography and Media Consent. Photographs and video recordings will be taken at the JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania. These may be used by JetBrains for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to appear in such media, please inform the event staff on site or contact us at youthchallenge@jetbrains.com. For participants under the age of 18, parental/guardian consent is required before any photos or videos can be used.

9. Personal Data. The Participant acknowledges that JetBrains may need to collect and further process the following personal data from You in order for the Participant to take part in JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania. Including but not limited to: full name, Contact Email, age, school name, Codeforces handle, and graduation year. Your personal data will only be processed for the purposes of carrying out the JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania. We will only send you educational newsletters with your explicit consent. The participant agrees to the publication of their name and surname in the tournament table.

10. Privacy Notice. The personal data you provide to JetBrains will be processed in accordance with the JetBrains Privacy Notice. By accepting these Terms, you agree to the JetBrains Privacy Notice, which is part of these Terms.

11. Data Access. The Participant understands that JetBrains may process the Participant’s personal data, or any feedback that the Participant has provided to JetBrains, in cooperation with the associated companies of JetBrains inside or even outside of the EU solely for the purposes of carrying out the JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania, including delivery of a Reward (if any). For the purposes of these Terms, associated companies are companies controlled by, controlling, or under common control with JetBrains. JetBrains and its associated companies act as joint data controllers, who are jointly responsible for compliance with applicable data protection legislation. JetBrains is primarily responsible for exercising the rights of data subjects and providing information about data processing.

12. Export Control. JetBrains will not provide any services, products, or funds to, and will immediately reject or exclude (i) any individuals residing in, or entities established in or organized under the laws of territories subject to export control or sanctions restrictions; or (ii) any individuals or entities on sanctions lists, regardless of their location. The territories subject to export control or sanctions restrictions include North Korea, Iran, Cuba, Syria, Russian Federation, Belarus, Crimea region of Ukraine, territories of the so-called entities of Donetsk and Luhansk People's Republic or other annexed territories of Ukraine – such as Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Participants are required to cooperate with JetBrains in their efforts to ensure compliance with Export Control laws.

13. Changes. JetBrains reserves the right to change these Terms, including the terms for any Reward, at any time without notice. The effective version of the Terms will be published on the JetBrains website here or in the description of JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania. You understand that the date, duration, scope or any other aspect of the JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania is subject to change. You understand that JetBrains may cancel JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania or your participation in JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania for any reason.

14. Participation. JetBrains reserves the right to exclude any Participant from JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania at any time for any reason and terminate these Terms with immediate effect upon delivery of an email to such Participant.

15. Governing law. The Terms and the relationship between You and JetBrains in connection with Your participation in JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania are governed by the laws of the Czech Republic. All disputes arising from the Terms or in connection with JetBrains Coding Cup in Romania will be resolved by the applicable courts of Prague, the Czech Republic.

16. Independent Relationship. The relationship between JetBrains and a Participant is independent in nature and the Participant shall not claim to be a partner, employee, agent, or joint venture partner of or with JetBrains, nor claim any benefits available to the personnel of JetBrains under / before any law or forum.
